Does the Stars buy and hold strategy have an outlook for 2026?
Stars does not have a view on market direction. It does believe that you should always be 100% invested because of the large lost opportunity cost of not being.
Stars picks stocks by incrementally buying high and incrementally selling what is falling. Therefore, Stars does not believe in value as a good criteria for picking stocks. Value stocks tend to underperform the S&P by 10% per year.
This is the time of year when Stars rebalances. For you the best change you can make is sell the worst 10% of your portfolio and buy an equal amount of TQQQ. On that 10% slice the incentive to do this is about 80%. Your portfolio performance will rise 5 percentage points which is 50% on the 10% slice and what you sold was probably 30% below the S&P.
Many believe that new leadership will emerge in 2026. Never before has so much money been concentrated is so few stocks. With employee contributions continuing to flow mainly into the S&P, it will be very difficult to change this leadership. Also these stocks are very real because they produce most of the earnings.
The best forecast I can make is that if you learn about the Stars strategy your financial future will be unbelievably improved.
