It is very hard to find investments that can outperform the S&P consistently over long periods of time.
TQQQ is one of the few that can outperform by more than about 2% per year.
There is a good possibility that if we use as our investment universe the 10 best long term performing stocks, we can greatly outperform the S&P. These 10 stocks are the 10 largest holdings in TQQQ. TQQQ does not hold financials and changes holdings faster than the S&P.
Each month you pick the stock that is down the most from the high over the past year. You can own up to 3 of the ten increments in the same stock. All increments of a stock are sold when the stock falls out of the top 10 holdings of TQQQ. If necessary sell the most profitable holding if you need funds to buy the next increment. I prefer to not buy stocks in positions 9 and 10 because it is easy for them to fall out of the top ten.
In January I bought NFLX and sold it in February for a small loss because it fell out of the top 10. In the next 3 months I bought MSFT. I will hold these for a long time because they were in position 4.
If this variation of Stars outperforms the S&P by 10 percentage points per year, I will consider this a success.
